IRT(interresponse time)
- the measure of time between 2 consecutive responses.
- it is #functionally related to the #rate of responding. When you are sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for the next from the cute boy form the gym and recording the time between his texts to figure out the pattern in his rate of responding, you've got that #IRT down.
- Recording the time from the end of a response to the initiation of the successive response. Example, Jill recored the IRT between the occurrences of nose picking her client engaged in, she started her stopwatch after he stopped licking is nose the first time and then she stopped the time when he started picking his nose a second time.
- is helpful for determining an effective initial DRO interval. A DRO is the differential reinforcement of "other" behavior, so when you're not engaging in the behavior(IRT). So every time you engage in a behavior other than the target behavior, the DRO will be in effect.
- IRT should be recorded when you want to decrease the amount of time between engagement in an appropriate behavior.
- the longer the IRT, the slower the rate.
Latency
- measure how much occurs between an opportunity to emit a behavior and when the behavior is initiated
- the meaure of the time in between the delivery of the Sd and the onset of the behavior. So, timers should start as soon as the SD has been delivered. They are stopped when the behavior is initiated.
- Latency is BEST used for discrete behaviors that don't occur ar high rates.
- Latency is short for response latency
- We use this type of recording when we need to increase the amount of time between a discriminative stimulus and the occurrences of maladaptive behavior, AND, we also use this to increase the #immediacy of #appropriate behaviors, thus decreasing latency of responding in that case.
- Latency shoud be recorded when you want to decrease the amount of time it takes for a child to start an appropriate behavior.
Timing #duration #continuously measured.
- is a way to record an amound of time.
- when we time a behavior like how long it takes for your husband to get turned on #lenghoftime
3 measurable demensions of behavior
: temporal lucus, temproal extent, and repeatability
- Temporal Lucus of behaviors
- Every behavior occurs at a certain point in time with respect to other events.
- one of the 3 dimensional quantities of ABA that ALL behaviors have. it means #PointInTime. There are 2 types: interresponse time and latency.
- Temporal extent quantity
- Duration
- Repeatability is to Count
- is when a behavior can be #counted
Definitional measures of behavior
: topography, magnitude
Derivative measures of behavior
: Percentage, trials-to-criterion
The average latency of a behavior
- you get their sum, the #totallatency and then divide them by the total number of occurrences to get the average value per occurrence of latency.
- is calculated by dividing the total latency by the number of occurrences.
