Stimulus equivalence(=functional equivalence)

- it involves accurate responding to an untrained(undiscriminated) stimulus demonstrating refexivity, symmetry and transitivity(stimulus-stimulus relations) all need to be performed positively in order for what to occur.

Transitivity
- untrained stimulus-stimulus that emerges as a product of training two other stimulus-stimulus relations. When stimulus A = stimulus B and C = Stimulus C, if organism responds to stimulus A equal  to stimulus C, it is said to show transitivity. if A=B, then B=C, then A=C

- matching twi stimuli based on their common relationship to another stimuli

Symmetry

- a type of stimulus-to-stimulus relation in which a learner is taught to identify the word car when shown a picture of a car then without training will identify th picture of a car when shown the word car. so If A=B, then B=A

Reflexivity

- Matching two identical stimuli

- a type of stimulus-to-stimulus relation in which the learner, without any prior training, selects a comparison stimulus that is the same as the sample stimuls. e.g., A=A
